Last Thursday, on 28 September 2025, a royal decree was published in the Moniteur belge, making the return-to-work allowance a structural measure. 💫
🔹 A permanent measure from 1 April 2025
The return-to-work allowance provides financial support to employers whose employees with a recognised disability resume work with the authorisation of the advisory doctor.
Previously, this measure was temporary — it applied only to periods of disability between 1 April 2023 and 31 March 2025.
The new decree now ensures that the allowance will continue on a permanent basis from 1 April 2025 onwards. 👊
🔹 Electronic application from 1 January 2026
As part of the ongoing digitalisation of social security administration, employers will be required to submit applications electronically only as from 1 January 2026. 🖥️
